Exercise Before Bed

Hey guys. This is Eric from DubsLabs and welcome to another episode of Sleep Hacks. Today, I wanted to talk to you about exercise.

I live in beautiful sunny Bend, Oregon. I used to live in New York City, but I moved out to Bend because I wanted to stay active as active as possible. I'm super passionate about mountain biking and road biking. I don't rock climb, but I have plenty of friends who do. I love to go on hikes and just go and explore nature. I like to go to bed really tired. I like to go to bed worn out, not mentally, but physically and I get such a great night's sleep when I do this. If you can at least get some exercise in a few days a week, I think it will have such a huge effect on your stress levels and on your sleep. I'll go on 20 to 30 mile mountain bike and road bike rides, I'll be super tired but I'll feel great and I'll go to sleep and I'll have like the deepest best sleep ever. I, of course, combine that with all these other sleep hacks, blackout curtains, blue blocking glasses, fall asleep listening to Bedphones, eat a scoop of almond or peanut butter before bed. It all works together to help me get such a better night's sleep and tackle the day and it also just makes me feel good.

I think what happens with a lot of people is they stop exercising and after a while they kind of lose that urge to exercise, they kind of get used to not exercising and it's too hard. I've gone through very long phases of not exercising and it's hard to get back into it. You have to get back into it slowly and it's a hard habit to build up so you really have to try to find some kind of sport or activity that you really enjoy. It could be basketball, it could be tennis, it could be swimming. For me, it's mountain biking. I just love getting out into nature and exploring the hundreds of miles of trail that Bend has to offer and it allows me to test our Versafit headphones as well which are made specifically for cyclists and runners and people like that.

I really, really think trying to get some exercise in will greatly improve your sleep and it will cascade into helping all other aspects of your life when you're awake. I really think you guys should try to get out and get some exercise in. It will improve your sleep and improve your stress levels and improve your life. You'll be more creative, you'll be more compassionate, you'll just be less angsty, less irritable. It is just such an unbelievable gift to be able to exercise and be out in nature. It's my happy place.
